9/3/2013 0 Comments Global CommunityHow is it that the death of the Venezuelan president can upset the plans of a rural Nova Scotia school secretary? Because we are very quickly becoming a global community where anything that happens in one part of the world affects us in another.
Technology and ease of travel that marks our society is bringing us closer together than ever before. It makes sense that our spiritual pursuits should do the same. Michael Dowd, a evolutionary christian claims that we are evolving toward global cooperation because it is in the best interest of our species to do so. (http://evolutionarychristian.com) I think that acceptance (not just tolerance) of other paths or ways to experience God is in the best interest of our species; not just from a cooperation point-of-view but also as a spiritually-enriching experience. Back to the president and the school secretary, the secretary's travel companion is part of the Canadian military posted at the Embassy in Venezuela. With the death of the president, the companion's military duties were top-priority and so could not meet-up with the school secretary as planned.
