Set My Spirit Free
c. 2012 Kerry Parsons
This song was written on the same night as "Quiet, Still and Well." Imagine two songs in one night! I guess I was on a bit of roll. It also happened to be Dad's birthday.
The song actually started to emerge shortly after the passing of a long-time friend. Her passing was a huge loss and I was trying to put myself in her position, wondering if I would have, or should I say, could I face leaving as courageously as she did. I couldn't actually sing this song for months. Each time I would start to sing it I would end up sobbing and I would have to put it away.
I am now ready (as I ever will be) for its debut.
